Shen Yun Performing Arts took to the stage in the capital city of Austin, Texas, on Jan. 2, drawing large crowds to The Long Center for the Performing Arts.

To mark the occasion, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott sent a special congratulatory letter welcoming Shen Yun to the Lone Star State. He praised the company for bringing 5,000 years of Chinese civilization to life through the arts, and highlighted Shen Yun’s impact in promoting traditional Chinese culture worldwide.

In his letter, the governor wrote: “As Governor of Texas, I am pleased to welcome Shen Yun Performing Arts to Texas for its 2026 world tour. Showcasing the diverse cultures that make up our vibrant state is a delight for the senses. Chinese history, spirituality, culture, and mythology encompass five millennia, and Shen Yun brings this heritage to life through tales of courage, sacrifice, and loyalty.”

He also praised Shen Yun’s visual and technical artistry, saying, “Using state-of-the-art digital sets and backdrops and hand-made costumes, Shen Yun masterfully blends the past and present to create an unforgettable experience of sight and sound.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun has toured internationally since 2006 with multiple touring companies, presenting the depth and beauty of classical Chinese dance and music.
First Lady Cecilia Abbott joined him in wishing Shen Yun a successful season, and concluded with this message: “The Lone Star State is proud to host Shen Yun, and I am confident that the world-class productions that highlight ancient Chinese culture will make a lasting impression. I applaud the dancers, musicians, organizers, directors, and volunteers who bring this dynamic performance to life as their dedication makes this tour a reality.”
