Elaine Wolf, a therapist and Counselor called the experience “thrilling.”
“Seeing all of the costume changes and the acrobatics—I can say that I’m finding it very thrilling,” she said.
Del Tackett, an Air Force veteran who also served at the White House as director of technical planning for the National Security Council, said it is “awesome.”
He spoke about what had impressed him: “The beauty, the movement, the professionalism, the stories, so I’ve been quite impressed. Quite impressed.”
“Very positive. Beautiful artwork, beautiful choreography,” said Al Simpson, a director at an aerospace company. “The exposure to a culture through what has happened here today is just wonderful.”
Erin Smalley, author and counselor of Smalley Marriage, said the “expressions are deeply heartfelt.”
“The music is deeply heartfelt. They do a beautiful job of just portraying the culture,” she said.
Audience members resonated with the ancient Chinese culture that was portrayed, one that is divinely inspired.
“That’s the part that I would say is touching my heart the most,” she said.
Mr. Tackett, who also served as senior vice president of Focus on the Family, said he enjoyed the “pageantry of the movement.”
He said he was very happy and excited to see it.
Mr. Simpson believes Shen Yun delivers an important experience.
“I think it provides insight to a lot of the struggle that’s out there right now in China. What you see here today is a tradition that is being expressed that is worthwhile seeing,” he said.
Virtues and universal values were also recognized by Ms. Smalley.
“It’s wonderful to know that across denominational differences that there are ways to express hope and faith and encouragement,” she said.
“I’m literally sitting there with this little grin on my face just watching the whole thing unfold,” she said.
