A 25-year-old Wisconsin man allegedly stabbed his pregnant ex-girlfriend and killed her 3-year-old daughter last week in Appleton because the woman didn’t want to be together with him anymore.

The man appeared in Outagamie County Circuit Court on Monday, March 2, and was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, The Associated Press reported.

“He was beginning to feel that his girlfriend, who was pregnant with his child, was beginning to distance herself from him. He began to concoct a plan to kill her and to kill her 3-year-old daughter,” Outagamie County District Attorney Melinda Tempelis said.

A man, named Demetrius Williams, the suspect in the case, was set a bond of $2 million in cash. According to court records, he had assigned a public defender.

The Appleton Police Department responded to a medical call on Feb. 26 at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 500 block of N. Kensington Drive and found the woman and her 3-year-old girl, Zyana Corbin, with life-threatening injuries.

The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment, but the 3-year-old succumbed to her injuries and died.

Williams was arrested and booked at the Outagamie County Jail, police wrote in an online statement. He had prior run-ins with the law and has been convicted previously for battery, and resisting arrest, WBAY reported.

The 27-year-old mother had stab wounds to her chest and abdomen area, as well as her face and neck. Both she and her unborn child survived, police wrote on Facebook.

The woman said she was able to flee the apartment when Williams began attacking her and when she returned, she found her daughter had been stabbed, according to prosecutors.

A female neighbor living in the same apartment complex told WBAY she heard a woman screaming, “help me, help me, help me, help my baby.”

The neighbor told another resident to call 911 while the injured mother brought her 3-year-old daughter over and asked the neighbor for a towel to try and help with the young girl’s injuries.

“It was very shocking,” the neighbor told the news outlet. “They looked like a normal, happy family.”

Police provided a link to the victim’s GoFundMe page, on the page. The woman is identified as Tiana, but on the complaint, her name is not identified.

“Tiana, 27, and Zyana, 3, were viciously attacked by Tiana’s boyfriend. The attack claimed the life of 3-year-old Zyana and left pregnant mother Tiana hospitalized in ICU due to life-threatening injuries. Zyana was taken from us too soon. … Not expecting to lose young Zyana, we are asking for any help towards home-going services to assist the parents for Zyana (Tiana & Lyndon) to lay their child to rest,” relatives of Tiana and Zyana wrote.
