‘They’re Trying to Bury Plant Food’: Farmer Pushes Back on Carbon Capture Pipeline

A company based in Iowa is planning a 14-hundred-mile carbon capture pipeline across five Midwestern states. The project will transport carbon from refineries of ethanol and biofuel to be buried in North Dakota, to reduce the region’s carbon footprint and protect the environment. But there are concerns about the project. NTD spoke with Jared Bossly, a fourth-generation South Dakota farmer who’s been impacted.

“It’s…a land grab. They’re trying to bury plant food, and why that is a good idea is beyond me. Our plants need carbon dioxide.”

Bossly also shared his encounter with a surveyor who came to his property and how the mapping of the pipeline is taking away control of his property.
