President Donald Trump has announced that his administration is expanding its TrumpRx prescription drug discount program to include another 160 medications, bringing the total number of drugs available through the platform to more than 800.

In a June 5 post on Truth Social, Trump said the expansion would allow TrumpRx.gov to offer discounted pricing for medications that account for roughly four out of every five prescriptions filled in the United States.

“I am pleased to announce that TrumpRx.gov is adding another 160 Prescription Drugs, at highly discounted prices, for a new total of over 800 of the most commonly-used Prescription Drugs,” Trump wrote.

The expansion is the latest move in a broader effort to lower prescription drug costs through so-called “most-favored-nation” pricing, Trump said, describing it as an arrangement under which Americans would pay no more—and ideally less—than consumers in other countries for the same medications.

“Now we are cutting Prices, and cutting them by a lot,” the president wrote. “These Most Favored Nations Deals have already, in fact, saved American Patients over $400 Million since the launch of TrumpRx.gov.”

Trump Credits Tariffs

Trump also reiterated that tariffs helped secure the pricing agreements by giving the administration leverage in negotiations with foreign governments and pharmaceutical companies.

“Most Favored Nations would not be possible without my use of tariffs,” the president wrote, adding that his administration is pursuing additional pricing agreements and partnerships meant to further cut drug costs.

The announcement marks the latest expansion of a program that the administration launched on Feb. 5 after reaching most-favored-nation pricing agreements with 17 major pharmaceutical companies.

Administration officials said at the time that participating drugmakers received tariff-related exemptions in exchange for lowering prices on certain medications and making discounted pricing available to eligible cash-paying consumers through the TrumpRx platform.

Speaking at a White House event marking the first anniversary of his second term in February, Trump said Americans had long paid substantially more for prescription drugs than consumers in many other countries.

“I think that most favored nations for drugs is something that nobody thought they’d be able to get,” Trump said at the time.

“Tariffs helped me there because the nations would have never gone along with it if I wasn’t able to say, ‘If you don’t go along with it, we’re going to put a 10 or 15 or 20 percent tariff on your nation.’”

Trump described the initiative as the largest reduction in prescription drug prices in U.S. history and said Americans would no longer subsidize lower drug prices abroad.
When the program launched in February, roughly 40 medications were available through the website, including fertility treatments and asthma medications. The administration has expanded the offerings several times since then.

Expansion Builds on Earlier Rollouts

The most recent major expansion came on May 18, when Trump announced that consumers could access more than 600 discounted generic medications through TrumpRx and have prescriptions delivered directly to their homes through partnerships with mail-order pharmacies.

“In some cases the discounted generics … may be offered at an even lower cash price than the out-of-pocket insurance cost,” Trump said in a May 18 speech in Washington.

At the time, the president said the website had attracted approximately 10 million users during its first three months of operation and had generated more than $400 million in savings for consumers.

The Council of Economic Advisers estimates that Americans will save nearly $600 billion over 10 years thanks to the Trump administration’s most-favored-nation drug arrangements, into which 17 pharmaceutical companies have now entered.

Officials have said that the initiative improves transparency by allowing consumers to compare prices directly and shop among multiple providers.

“TrumpRx has created transparency with no middlemen,” Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said during the May announcement.

Trump encouraged consumers to consult the website before filling prescriptions.

“TrumpRx.gov will now provide clear, transparent, and discounted offerings for four out of five of every prescription filled by Americans,” Trump wrote in Friday’s social media post, adding that some of the discounts are as steep as 600 percent.
