J. Michael Waller, former CIA operative, president of Georgetown Research, and author of the book “Big Intel,” joined NTD to discuss President Donald Trump’s launch of a military alliance called the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition.
Waller discusses how the alliance is designed to eradicate foreign influence and criminal cartels from the Western Hemisphere, and how its 12 Latin American and Caribbean nations will resonate with cartels and drug traffickers. Waller also discussed Trump’s comments about Cuba being “at the end of the line” after the United States cut off its financial and energy support by taking out Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.
Waller also discussed how President Trump highlighted the factors that have enabled the cartels to become so powerful. Waller discussed Trump’s version of the Monroe Doctrine, by which the United States aims to block hostile foreign influences from gaining a foothold in the Western Hemisphere. Waller described some of the ways in which the adversaries of the United States cooperated with the cartels and other narco-terrorists in Latin America, the Chinese Communist Party’s footprint in the Western Hemisphere, and how the newly formed military coalition can help counter Beijing’s malign influence.
