The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces announced the launch of an attack on Raqqa. Raqqa is the ISIS stronghold in Syria, a place used as a base to launch terrorist attacks.
This follows successful ongoing attacks on ISIS in Iraq. The Syrian Democratic Forces are composed of Kurdish and Arab militias.
Successful attacks on both the Syrian and Iraqi territories will leave ISIS without a stronghold.
