Union membership hits a record low in the United States in 2019—a trend that appears to be continuing, despite millions of new jobs.
It occurred in the same year the U.S. economy brought 2.1 million new jobs.
Although the private sector was not affected by the ruling, it’s union membership also hit a record low, at 6.2 percent.
The labor department said on Wednesday that the percentage of the total workforce in labor unions fell to 10.3 percent in 2019.
A further decline from 2018 levels and the lowest on record since record-keeping started in 1983.
