The ‌U.S. military carried ‌out "self-defense strikes" on ⁠Monday in southern Iran against targets ​including boats ⁠attempting to lay mines and missile launch sites.

"U.S. forces conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces. Targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to emplace mines," said Navy Captain Tim Hawkins, ‌a Central Command spokesperson, in a statement to NTD.

"U.S. Central Command continues to defend our forces while using restraint during the ongoing ceasefire."
