US Should Look If Groups Funding Non-Profits Are Disrupting or Building: Foundation Fellow

Steve Yates, senior China research fellow at the Heritage Foundation, discussed with NTD's Steve Lance, the testimony at Tuesday's Ways and Means Committee hearing, "Hearing on Foreign Influence in American Non-profits: Unmasking Threats from Beijing and Beyond."

Yates discussed how foreign countries exploit the United States tax code's differing requirements for disclosing funding sources to political action committees, namely through non-profits, that are not intended to be used that way. There is no public accountability for foreign funds through non-profits.

Yates also said there is a neo-Maoist Marxist movement across protest movements, that he says he does not consider organic, to break up society and disrupt fundamental institutions like faith and family. He says foreign funds aren't coming in to promote positive values like the American family, free enterprise and success. It is there that Yates says the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) might have common cause with other actors.

Yates also discussed how the United Front, the outward facing manipulation machine of the CCP, operates.

Yates also said that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's landslide victory in a snap election is an enormous opportunity for Japan, and a "massive positive for the free world."
