Around 100,000 Crayan mattresses sold exclusively on Amazon have been recalled due to a serious fire hazard, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said in a recall notice date June 18.
The recall affects mattresses that fail to meet federal open flame flammability standards, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire, the agency said.
Recall Details and Product Description
The recall involves Crayan brand mattresses in both 10-inch and 12-inch thicknesses, available in Twin, Full, Queen, and King sizes. The single-sided mattresses feature a white knit quilted top and a gray side panel with the brand name “Crayan” printed on it. Each mattress was sold compressed in a box and includes a white label sewn onto the cover indicating fiber content, size, and “WG/P Foundation.”The affected mattresses were sold online on Amazon.com between July 2022 and June 2024, retailing for prices ranging from $100 to $220, according to the CPSC. The mattresses were manufactured in Japan and imported by Foshanshi Liyue Jiaju Youxian Gongsi, doing business as Crayan Inc., of China.
Hazard and Consumer Guidance
The CPSC stated that the recalled mattresses do not comply with the federal safety standard for mattress flammability, specifically failing to meet open flame requirements.“The recalled mattresses fail to meet open flame flammability requirements in violation of federal safety standard for mattresses, posing a deadly fire hazard,” according to the CPSC recall notice.
No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with the recalled mattresses as of the recall date.
Consumers who own a recalled Crayan mattress are advised to stop using it immediately and contact Crayan for a full refund. To receive the refund, consumers must mark the word “Recalled” in large letters across the white top panel of the mattress and submit a photo of the marked mattress to [email protected] to certify it has been disposed of. Crayan is contacting all known purchasers assist with the recall process.
