Nine nurses working in the same unit at a hospital are all pregnant at the same time in a rare coincidence that they say took them by surprise.

The nurses, who work together in the neuro-trauma care unit at Salem Hospital in Oregon, first realized they were all pregnant in January.

One of the nurses, Tammie Gregor, who is due in September, said that they had each planned their pregnancies, but were unaware of each others’ plans. “We just somehow planned them all at the same time,” she told KOIN 6 News amusedly.

“Everyone has different things going on,” Amber Rouleau, another one of the nurses, told KOIN 6 News.

“None of us consulted each other for when this was happening. I think if we get to number 10, that would be pretty crazy,” Rouleau added—she was referring to one of the nursing assistants, who is also pregnant. If counted, the number of pregnancies would actually be 10.

Hilary Keck, one of the nurses, is expecting her first child. She told KOIN 6 News that going through the pregnancy alongside the others is “really nice,” and said that all of the expectant mothers are very understanding and “all kind of look out for each other.”

And while a baby boom at the hospital may be exciting, the managers say it will be tough when the nurses eventually take maternity leave. However, the managers also said they should be able to cover all of the shifts when that time comes, CBS reported.
