China’s telecom equipment giant Huawei pushed itself to the status of a global player, only now to find itself kicked out of much of the West.

A rare meeting took place between China’s communist leader Xi Jinping and someone he called an “old friend.” Bill Gates is in Beijing and plans to pour $50 million into China’s medical research sector. What does the friendship say about U.S.-China relations?
