Warships from China, Russia, and Iran arrived at South Africa's main naval base on Friday. The three countries have begun a week-long joint exercise off the country’s coast.
The operation follows the U.S. capture of Venezuela's dictator, Nicolás Maduro, over the weekend.
Meanwhile, each country participating in the drills is facing its own domestic challenges.
