Even during a pandemic, some traditions must continue. The annual confetti test ahead of New Year’s Eve in Times Square is one of them.
The test is to ensure the air worthiness of the confetti that will help usher in the new year.
The co-organizers of the Times Square New Year’s Eve, the Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, threw mounds of confetti into the air over Times Square. The windy weather whipped the colorful tissue paper throughout the area.
