An Alabama man was airlifted to a hospital on Thursday after being run down by his own four-wheeler ATV, which was allegedly being operated by his four-legged friend, WKRG News 5 reported on Saturday.

The man, whose identity has not been revealed, was stopped off Highway 59 in Loxley at a Bunny Bread store.

The man had tied the pooch to the handlebar of his ATV, but his dog decided to make a run for it and the leash got tangled with the throttle, according to WKRG. The four-wheeler then accelerated, tossed the man off the bike, and ran over him.

The man was injured to such an extent that police had to shut down the highway in order to have the chopper touch down and airlift the man to the hospital.

The nature of his injuries has not been revealed, but he is said to be in stable condition. The dog is fine and was taken temporarily into custody until a family member could be found to take care of her.
