Clint Payne, brother-in-law of U.S. London attack victim Kurt Cochran told reporters that his family misses Kurt badly, but is inspired by Kurt’s legacy of generosity and service.

Payne addressed a room filled with Cochran’s relatives and reporters on Monday., March 27.

Cochran and his wife Melissa were in London celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary when Khalid Masood ran them down in his SUV, before being shot to death by police. Cochran was killed; his wife suffered broken bones and lacerations.

“The most difficult part of all of this is that Kurt is no longer with us, and we miss him terribly,” Payne told the assembled reporters.

“He was an amazing individual who loved everyone and tried to make the world a better place. He left a legacy of generosity and service that continues to inspire us,” he said.

Payne said that Melissa Cochran was recovering from her injuries and was “grateful for the outpouring of love and generosity.” He said she felt strengthened by the presence of her family.
