A 4-year-old girl from South Carolina remained missing Wednesday as the FBI joined an expanding search involving state and local law enforcement agencies.
Authorities said she was last seen wearing pink Minnie Mouse pajamas, had pink beads in her braided hair, and was possibly wearing Crocs.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said the FBI joined the search alongside the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the Aiken Department of Public Safety, the North Augusta Department of Public Safety, the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office, and other agencies, significantly increasing resources to locate the missing girl.
“Javeayah is a smart, talkative, and friendly girl who loves Minnie Mouse and likes to chase chickens. Javeayah is described as 3 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 42 pounds, and may be able to fit in small spaces,” the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies established a substantial law enforcement presence in the area where the child was last seen, conducting door-to-door checks and searching nearby wooded areas.
“We need the community to search their property and any place a child may hide,” officials asked on July 1.
“Once we get to the point to where we are needing volunteers and community organizations to assist with the search, we will keep you posted when that time comes,” authorities said.
According to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, Javeayah’s family and the community have been cooperative and supportive.
“Our team is committed to bringing Javeayah home safe and will continue to follow up on all leads,” the sheriff’s office said. “If you have seen Javeayah or have any information that could help us bring her home, please contact us. No detail is too small.”
If anyone has any information that would lead to finding Javeayah or has any sightings or tips, they can call (803) 502-5200.
