The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of macadamia nuts sold at Costco in Hawaii.
The packages are labeled with Lot Code 307HMNC25L3 and were sold between Nov. 29 and Dec. 4 at the Costco Hawaii Kai warehouse in Honolulu.
American Nuts company leaders did not respond to requests for comment by the time of publication, but urged customers in their company notice to refrain from eating the nuts and to return the product to a local Costco for a full refund.
This is the second recall of branded nuts this month due to concerns about Salmonella contamination; however, concerns about contamination are not limited to nuts.
Infections were mostly reported on the East Coast in Florida, North Carolina, New York, South Carolina, and Virginia.
The supplements were sold nationwide at Sam’s Club retail stores and online and contained moringa leaf powder, which health officials say they suspect may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.
“The issue was discovered after routine testing by our supplier found one lot of raw pistachios to be positive for Salmonella,” the FDA said. “A recall was initiated after determining these pistachios had been further used in the production of the Deluxe Mixed Nuts products.”
The withdrawn snack items were sold at Wegmans stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., between Nov. 3 and Dec. 1, 2025.
