Fly By Jing is voluntarily recalling specific lots of its Creamy Sesame Noodles nationwide due to potential peanut contamination, the company announced this week. The recall was issued after the company learned that the noodles may have been exposed to peanuts during manufacturing, posing a serious health risk to individuals with peanut allergies.

According to a recall notice published on May 13 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall affects Fly By Jing Creamy Sesame Noodles sold in single-pack and four-pack varieties with specific best-by dates.

The recalled noodles were distributed nationwide and sold in retail stores, including Whole Foods Market and Thrive Market, as well as online through the company’s website between Feb. 1 and May 8.

People with peanut allergies could face “serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” if they consume the recalled noodles, the notice said.

About 4.6 million U.S. adults have a peanut allergy, according to a study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. And about 2 to 5 percent of children in the United States are allergic to peanuts.
Nonprofit advocacy group Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) says food allergies overall affect about 33 million people in the United States.

Each year, an estimated 3.4 million people in the United States visit the emergency room due to food allergy reactions, according to FARE. More than 40 percent of children with food allergies have experienced a severe reaction, such as anaphylaxis.

“Peanuts are not an intended ingredient in Fly By Jing Creamy Sesame Noodles,” states the recall.

The recalled products include Fly By Jing Creamy Sesame Noodles single packs with UPC 8-50052-23988-6 and four-packs with UPC 8-50052-23991-6.

The recalled products carry best-by dates of Oct. 15, 2026, Dec. 6, 2026, and March 23, 2027. Consumers can find the dates on the back or bottom of the packaging.

The company says that it “discovered a third-party manufacturer produced the product on equipment that also processes peanuts under conditions that may have led to peanut being in Fly By Jing Creamy Sesame Noodles.”

Fly By Jing said it has stopped distributing the affected products, notified customers and retail partners, and placed the remaining inventory on hold. The company also said it “strengthened allergen-control procedures with the third-party manufacturer.”

No other Fly By Jing noodle flavors or sauce products are included in the recall, according to the notice.

Consumers with peanut allergies should not consume the recalled Creamy Sesame Noodles and are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For questions, customers can contact Fly By Jing at (866) 862-2645 or by email at [email protected].
