Ja’Ron Smith is a former adviser on crime and urban revitalization under the Trump administration, serving as the deputy director of the Office of American Innovation. He is now a senior fellow at Right on Crime, and launched an initiative called “public safety solutions for America,” which aims to curb crime throughout the country. He speaks with NTD on his approach to crime, and his upcoming new book, “Underserved: Harnessing the Principles of Lincoln’s Vision for Reconstruction for Today’s Forgotten Communities.”
