Illegal explosives kill at least 9 in China

At least nine people were killed and six injured in a blast caused by illegally stored explosives in Shanxi province, China.

The incident occurred on the evening of April 1 in a residential building, according to China’s state media.

A number of buildings collapsed as a result of the explosion.

An investigation is underway. Search and rescue work continued on April 2.
