Shen Yun inspired audiences in San Luis Obispo, California, with classical Chinese dance and music, and a divinely inspired message.

The name of the world renowned performing arts company Shen Yun means the beauty of divine beings dancing in Chinese.

“I love it. It is amazing. It just blew me away,” said Mary Szlavik, a legal assistant.

“The music and the dance connects so naturally as if they are one. In Chinese, we would say that this is well crafted dance and music,” said Guoying Wei, a real estate agent.

“It was like seeing heaven on Earth. It’s just so beautiful. It’s like you enter another realm. The backdrop, the lighting, the dance, and the orchestra all come together perfectly. I really enjoyed watching it,” she added.

“I’m going to say it’s amazing,” said military officer Gregory Arenas. “That is just something you have to go see.”

One audience member, Gordon Bristol, really enjoyed the soprano’s solo performance.

“The lady really had a powerful voice. And it was a very powerful message that they put up there,” said Bristol, a business owner. “The message was peace and tranquility. Things are coming from above.”

Many other audience members also resonated with the spirituality in the show.

“Don’t let the everyday hustle bustle and trying to get ahead get in the way of that. So I think they brought that out real well,” said Jeannette Pendley, another audience member.

“[It shows] how we came down and the spirits were all trapped, and then the Creator came down. Basically, with the Creator’s help you can empower yourself to go back,” said Arenas.

The showgoers say they hope others can see Shen Yun, too.

“Everybody should get an opportunity to see it and we’ll encourage our 13 grandchildren to go see it,” said Bristol.

“It’s beautiful. I’ve never seen anything like it, it’s gorgeous. I think people have to come and see it at least once in their lifetime,” said Gina Spencer, a retired shop owner.

“I would recommend it to anyone. It was so unique, so different from most of the entertainment you see nowadays,” said audience member Joe Sullivan.

Shen Yun will be performing next in Hollywood, California.
