Prominent democracy activist Joshua Wong was arrested by police for violations from last year.

According to his lawyer, Wong was arrested while at a police station for another case for which he is currently on trial.

He was arrested for participating in an unauthorized assembly in October 2019 and violating the city’s anti-mask law.

Other activists are also facing unlawful assembly charges or suspected offenses related to last year’s pro-democracy protests.
