A lucky player from Kentucky set a new record, winning the largest Powerball jackpot prize to come from the Bluegrass state, the Kentucky Lottery said on April 27.

“We did it, Kentucky! A player won last night's POWERBALL JACKPOT!” the Kentucky Lottery wrote in a post on X.

“The $167.3 MILLION win is the largest in #KYLottery HISTORY! Was it you?”

The winning ticket was sold in the city of Georgetown at a shop called Clark's Pump-N-Shop, a family owned convenience store chain operating in Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, and Florida.

The Powerball numbers were 1-12-14-18-69 and the Powerball was 2.

At $167.3 million, Saturday’s winning ticket topped the previous Kentucky record from December 2009 by nearly $40 million. The 2009 prize was won by Rob Anderson Jr., a Georgetown resident, who secured a $128.6 million jackpot.

The winner now has the choice to either receive the full jackpot prize over multiple payments or receive a lump sum payment of $77.3 million.

If the winner opts for the annuity, he or she will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5 percent each year.

Nationwide, this was the third Powerball jackpot win this year. Two other winners also won multimillion-dollar prizes: one player from California on March 29, with a ticket worth $526.5 million, and one from Oregon on Jan. 18, with a ticket worth $328.5 million.

In Saturday’s drawing, more than 510,000 tickets from across the United States won cash prizes, Powerball said in a statement. Seven winners took home $150,000 prizes, and ten others won $50,000 prizes.

For the next drawing on Monday night, the Powerball jackpot resets to $20 million, or a $9.2 million cash value.

Powerball allows Jackpot winners a year from the day of the draw to claim their prize, but people are encouraged to check their local lottery rules as claim periods can vary by state. For example, winners in Kentucky must claim their prizes within 180 days, per state law.

Prizes of $100,000 and more can only be claimed at the Kentucky Lottery headquarters in Louisville at 1011 W. Main St.

The Kentucky Lottery headquarters can be reached at 502-751-0080.

Powerball winners can remain anonymous in 18 states if they want to, but not in Kentucky, as state law requires the disclosure of the winner’s name, city, and county of residence for lottery prizes.

Lottery players in Kentucky will see 20 cents of every dollar spent on a ticket go to the commonwealth to provide funding for college scholarship and grant programs; 5 cents covers the Lottery organization’s expenses; another 5 cents is the retailers’ commission; and 70 cents is distributed among the winning players.

Powerball drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 pm Eastern Time.
