A lucky player from Kentucky set a new record, winning the largest Powerball jackpot prize to come from the Bluegrass state, the Kentucky Lottery said on April 27.
“The $167.3 MILLION win is the largest in #KYLottery HISTORY! Was it you?”
The winning ticket was sold in the city of Georgetown at a shop called Clark's Pump-N-Shop, a family owned convenience store chain operating in Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, and Florida.
The Powerball numbers were 1-12-14-18-69 and the Powerball was 2.
The winner now has the choice to either receive the full jackpot prize over multiple payments or receive a lump sum payment of $77.3 million.
If the winner opts for the annuity, he or she will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5 percent each year.
Nationwide, this was the third Powerball jackpot win this year. Two other winners also won multimillion-dollar prizes: one player from California on March 29, with a ticket worth $526.5 million, and one from Oregon on Jan. 18, with a ticket worth $328.5 million.
For the next drawing on Monday night, the Powerball jackpot resets to $20 million, or a $9.2 million cash value.
Prizes of $100,000 and more can only be claimed at the Kentucky Lottery headquarters in Louisville at 1011 W. Main St.
The Kentucky Lottery headquarters can be reached at 502-751-0080.
Powerball winners can remain anonymous in 18 states if they want to, but not in Kentucky, as state law requires the disclosure of the winner’s name, city, and county of residence for lottery prizes.
Powerball drawings are broadcast live every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 pm Eastern Time.
