Netflix documentary series “Five Came Back” premiered in New York. The series will be available for Netflix subscribers on March 31. “Five Came Back” is about five Hollywood directors who enlisted to document the events of World War II.

Steven Spielberg serves as executive producer and is among the five current Hollywood filmmakers who provide narration for the series.

Spielberg spoke about the incredible journey these filmmakers had to take.

“Well it’s not just filmmaking, it’s documentation of true events. And these filmmakers were storytellers and a lot of them told stories based on the imagination of writers and novels. But for the first time they went into a genre that they had never experienced before. The genre of photojournalism and they were—and you wouldn’t think any of them would have any real skills in this area, as documentarians, but they did.”
