A bipartisan group of senators has unveiled a highly anticipated bill that includes border security measures as well as additional funding for Ukraine and Israel, but which Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has said is “dead on arrival” in the House. The $118-billion package—if passed—would represent the largest border legislation in decades.

Former President Donald Trump has said he plans to give New York “a heavy shot” in his campaign. President Trump told Fox News over the weekend that migrants are living all over the streets, including on Madison Avenue, and that nobody can believe what’s happened to New York City. He said he believes Democratic strongholds like New York can be flipped because crime rates have hit “record levels.”

A drone attack on a base housing U.S. troops in eastern Syria killed six allied Kurdish fighters late Sunday, in the first significant attack in Syria or Iraq since the United States launched retaliatory strikes over the weekend against Iran-backed militias that have been targeting its forces in the region. That’s after the United States warned Iran and its proxies that Washington will conduct more attacks if American forces continue to be targeted, but that it does not want an “open-ended military campaign” across the region.
