At least one has died after a storm brought heavy rain and flooding to the Northeastern United States on Sunday and Monday. The governor of New York has declared an emergency in response. The National Weather Service also indicated much of the Northeast is under various flood warnings.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has agreed to Sweden’s bid to join NATO, the alliance’s Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg announced July 10. However, it is unclear when Sweden’s accession to NATO would be ratified by the Turkish parliament. This comes hours after Mr. Erdogan said he would only approve of Sweden’s membership if the European Union would open the way for Turkey to join.
