The House approved Lulu’s Law on Wednesday, advancing the measure to President Donald Trump for his signature.

Under the legislation, the Federal Communications Commission would have 180 days after enactment to issue an order authorizing wireless emergency alerts to be transmitted in the event of a shark attack.

The bill is named after Alabama teenager Lulu Gribbin, who survived a shark attack while at the beach last June. Supporters of the measure say an emergency warning system that day might have helped prevent the incident or reduced the severity of her injuries.
