Microsoft has issued an alert about "active attacks" on server software used by government agencies and businesses to share documents within organizations, and has recommended security updates that customers should apply immediately.

Microsoft said the attack only applied to SharePoint servers used within organizations. The company said that the SharePoint Online product in Microsoft 365 was not affected by the attacks.
