Chuck DeVore, chief national initiatives officer at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, and retired Army intelligence officer, spoke with NTD's Iris Tao on the U.S. negotiations with Iran for a deal.

DeVore said the Iranian Foreign Ministry has a reputation for obfuscating, lying, and cheating, and even if it wanted to make a deal, it's compounded by the fact that the IRGC wants to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed, or at least earn money from it.

DeVore said there are two broad outcomes: a true and complete regime change in Iran where the Iranians rise up and depose the “death cult” that has been ruling over them since 1979, or Gulf region nations, Western Europe, and Japan send convoy ships to provide safety against attacks, drones, or sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

DeVore also discussed how the closure of the Strait of Hormuz affects China.

DeVore said it is driving up the cost of their energy, but China has been working to develop its coal-to-liquid program, the same program that Nazi Germany developed in the late 1930s.

Additionally, China has significantly increased its imports from Russia.

DeVore said Ukraine has done significant damage to Russia's export terminals and refineries with longer-range systems in recent weeks. He said China may see its largest source of oil being affected.
