Growing dismissals of top nuclear and missile specialists may reveal deeper issues in China’s military. Experts say this shows officials’ lack of faith in homegrown weapons.
The Chinese Academy of Engineering has removed three top academics from its website. They include experts in nuclear weapons, missiles, and radar systems.
Shen Ming-shih, an associate professor at a Taiwanese university, said the dismissals are linked to recent reports of Chinese weapons failing in the field.
He said the anti-stealth radar allegedly did not work in Venezuela, when U.S. troops tracked Nicolás Maduro.
He also said the surface-to-air missile batteries used by Iran were apparently taken out by Israel and the U.S. within the first hour of the strikes.
