The Food and Drug Administration announced Wednesday the recall of two flavors of International Delight coffee creamer, due to reported spoilage and illnesses.
Danone, the parent company of International Delight, initially issued a recall for the products on Feb. 21 for more than 75,000 bottles of coffee creamer, regarding its cinnamon roll and hazelnut flavors that had spoiled prematurely.

The recall only cited premature spoilage resulting in noticeable texture changes and affecting product quality, but it didn’t list any reported illnesses related to the issue. The creamers were removed from retail shelves across 31 states nationwide.

In the FDA’s March 12 notice, the agency officially classified the recall as class 2, which according to FDA guidelines, indicates that consuming the affected product "may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences," though the likelihood of severe health problems occurring is considered "remote."

The recalled creamers include International Delight Hazelnut Coffee Creamer and International Delight Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll Coffee Creamer. Both were packaged in a six-pack of 32-ounce bottles.

Specifically, the Hazelnut flavor has a best-by date printed as July 2, 2025, with UPC code 04127102568 and lot code 51-4114 S. The Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll flavor has a best-by date of July 3, 2025, UPC code 04127101993, and shares the same lot code of 51-4114 S.

In total, Danone's recall affects approximately 12,509 cases of coffee creamer or 75,054 bottles.

Danone said that its decision to initiate the recall was made "out of an abundance of caution," highlighting only quality concerns related to premature spoilage. But according to the FDA, Danone received consumer complaints not only about spoilage but also reports of illness from using the two creamers.

In October 2024, another variety—International Delight's "Home Alone" Peppermint Mocha Zero Sugar—was also recalled, which at that time was due to incorrect labeling. More than 10,000 bottles were mistakenly labeled as containing no sugar when they actually included sugar. At that time, the FDA warned that this labeling mistake could pose health risks for those who carefully monitor or limit their sugar intake.

Those who have purchased either of the currently recalled creamers are advised by Danone to immediately stop using them. Customers may return the creamers to their original place of purchase for either a refund or a replacement. Anyone with additional questions or concerns regarding the recall can reach out directly to International Delight's Consumer Care Line at 1-800-441-3321.

Although the best-by dates on the recalled products have not yet passed, Danone still recommends consumers stop using them immediately due to potential health risks.

Danone did not immediately return a request for comment made by NTD regarding how many illnesses were reported from this recall.
