A group of businessmen is suing United Airlines after a giant rabbit died in flight. The investors planned to put the rabbit, named Simon, on display at the Iowa State Fair. The Continental Giant rabbit was one of the largest of its kind in the world, and was still growing.

The owners are even more upset because United staff chose to cremate the animal soon after they found it dead. The animal boarded the plane healthy.

The attorney representing the businessmen, Guy Cook, said that United told him they settled the issue with Simon’s breeder and previous owner, a resident of the United Kingdom, according to Fox News. Cook says that has nothing to do with the owners who bought the rabbit and paid for its travel.

Before Simon was found dead after the April 20 flight, he weighed 20 pounds and spanned 3.5 feet.

Rabbit breeder Annette Edwards, who sent Simon on his way from London to his new owners in the United States, said she has sent rabbits all around the world and has never had a problem like this, according to Kare 11.

The ownership group is suing for the price of the rabbit plus punitive damages, believing United was negligent while the rabbit was in its care, as Fox News reports.
