The lockdown at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga has been lifted following reports of an active shooter Thursday morning.
“Law enforcement found no evidence of a threat,” The Chattanooga Police Department said in an update on X at 11:10 a.m.
No arrests have been made, police said during a press conference.
Earlier in the morning, police confirmed they were working with campus police to investigate the incident following reports of shots fired on campus.
“There was a call that came in,” police told reporters. “But at this point in time there’s been nothing to substantiate that there’s been any type of violence or violent act whatsoever. We’re not really sure where that confusion came from, and that is actively being investigated.”
Authorities confirmed nobody was injured. A student on campus was treated at the scene for medical reasons unrelated to the law enforcement response.
"Run. Hide. Fight," the alert said.
All classes and activities have been canceled until tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 22. Students and non-essential employees were allowed to leave campus for the rest of the day.
