Italian journalist Eleonora Boi, 39, who is also currently pregnant with the couple’s third child, was bitten on July 31 while swimming at the Carolina Resort beach.
“I never thought I’d be attacked by a shark, especially near the shore on a crowded beach.”
She said in the Instagram post that her grandmother used to say “the sea is a traitor.”
“Luckily, my baby and I are fine, I was promptly rescued, and the surgery to fix my poor bruised leg went well,” she continued.
“Now I just have to recover from the great scare and try to forgive the great friend who betrayed me. As for the shark, he will soon hear from my lawyers.”
Carolina Municipal Police Commissioner Capt. Ruben Moyeno told the local Maritime Unit and lifeguards to remain on high alert as an investigation remains underway.
No alert was issued to bathers at the resort, however, and patrons were able to continue swimming as normal.
Boi also expressed her appreciation for all the well wishes received and thanked her husband in the process.
“Thank you all for the great love and thank you for worrying about us with a message or a prayer,” she wrote.
“I thank my husband who despite being married to Fantozzi-Boi he gave me all his love and courage.” Ugo Fantozzi is a character in Italian comedy films.
Boi and Gallinari tied the knot in July 2022.
Gallinari, 36, began his professional basketball career in 2004 in Italy, before being picked sixth overall by the New York Knicks in the 2008 NBA Draft.
Gallinari and his family are in Puerto Rico after he signed with the Vaqueros de Bayamón basketball team back in January.
