The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of a popular salad kit sold in 25 states at Kroger and Walmart.
"Master packs — individual packets of dressing and toppings supplied by Latitude 36 Foods and included in Taylor Farms salad kits — incorrectly included Asian Sesame Ginger dressing rather than the intended Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing, leading to the possibility of undeclared sesame and soy allergens in some Taylor Farms Honey Balsamic Salad Kits," the FDA said.
Neither Taylor Farms nor Latitude 36 Foods responded to requests for comment by the time of publication.
The 6/8.3 ounce salad kits were distributed in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia.
"People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sesame and soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products," the FDA said.
The recall is applicable to packages that have code dates starting with "TFRS" and expiration dates up to and including Sept. 4. The product code can be found in the upper right-hand corner of the packaging.
The FDA is urging people who purchased the recalled salad kit to discard it immediately rather than eat it and refunds are available at the location of purchase.
"There have been no illnesses reported to Taylor Farms in connection with the recalled product," the FDA added. "This recall does not apply to any other Taylor Farms products or brands."
"People who have sensitivity or allergy to milk may be at risk of an adverse reaction if they consume this product,” the FDA said.
