U.S. Rep. Gabe Evans (R-Colo.) spoke with NTD's Jack Bradley about the House voting to pass a bill that would pay employees of the Department of Homeland Security and end the partial government shutdown.
Evans discussed some snippets from the House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, including acting TSA Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeill's testimony, and Rep. Julie Johnson's (D-Texas) accusations that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers are committing “terroristic attacks within the U.S.”
Evans said ICE agents helping TSA agents in airports is a band-aid on a major problem. He talked about the devastating effects of the government shutdown on day-to-day operations, the effects on federal employees' families while they are not being paid, and the potential long-term effects on recruitment and retention.
