Shen Yun wrapped up its performances in Phoenix, Arizona, on March 19.
The world renowned classical Chinese dance show charmed audiences with splendid dance and music.
A trio of friends thoroughly enjoyed the performance—siblings Jessica and Jade Sanchez, and Marshall Norris Brewer.
“Majestic, I think that’ll probably be a better word [to describe it], with the music and the visual effects. It’s something that you can’t see everywhere,” said Jessica, a bank manager.
“I enjoyed the dances, particularly the drum one, and then the one with the yellow flowers. Fantastic. But the standout musician parts were really neat, where they came out and played the erhu. That was phenomenal. Never seen anything like that before. So I really appreciated it,” said Marshall Norris Brewer, a musician who has been playing the guitar and piano for nearly two decades.
The Sanchez sisters said the show took them on an emotional journey.
“It was a show that encompassed everything. It made you laugh, it made you cry, it made you think. It also made you curious. Curious to want to know more about where this dance troupe is coming from and know more behind the culture and the religion behind the culture, I thought that was a really interesting part of it,” said Jessica.
“I thought the [dance about the orphan], I thought that was just—it was an emotional piece. I looked over at my sister and I said, are you crying? And she’s like yes. So it definitely got us all,” said Jade.
Shen Yun will be performing next in Mesa, Arizona, and Santa Barbara, California.
