Audience members praised the production’s artistry, spirituality, and presentation of traditional Chinese culture.
Ana Carolina Medina, a lawyer, said she was impressed by the performance’s orchestra and international collaboration among the musicians.
“I’ve never seen so many talented musicians brought together from different countries,” Ms. Medina said. “In the end, they come together to perform classical music representing Chinese tradition. That is truly impressive.”
Bianca de Andrade Tatamiya, a photographer, said one of her favorite performances was the classical Chinese sleeve dance.
“I found it beautiful how they throw and then gather them, the skill they have to pull in the sleeves and then release them again,” Ms. Tatamiya said. “How fluid and beautiful it is.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from before communism through classical Chinese dance and music.
Audience members said the performance offered a unique perspective on Chinese culture and tradition.
“I think it’s very beautiful,” Ms. Tatamiya said. “It’s very interesting to see Chinese culture told in a different way through these traditional dances.”
Ms. Medina said the performance strongly reflected the depth of ancient Chinese civilization.
“The show portrays ancient Chinese culture very well,” she said.
Regina Botelho, owner of Estúdio de Pilates Regina Botelho, said the performance created an immersive and spiritual atmosphere.
“I thought it feels as if you are in another place,” Ms. Botelho said. “I really liked the spiritual aspect at the beginning, the transition, and this magic of the stage.”
Ms. Medina also highlighted the performance’s spiritual themes.
“It’s an experience rooted in tradition, with a deep sense of spirituality,” she said.
