Canadian Politicians Welcome Shen Yun to Canada

World-renowned Shen Yun Performing Arts launched its 21 show Canada tour in Hamilton on March 12. As the company marks its 20th anniversary, politicians across Canada welcomed Shen Yun’s return and wished the tour great success.

In a congratulatory letter, Canadian Member of Parliament Yvan Baker said: "Shen Yun is a cultural production that brings audiences a unique opportunity to experience elements of China’s traditional performing arts and heritage. Through music and dance, it highlights values that have been cherished for generations, including compassion, resilience, and harmony."

Canadian Member of Parliament Connie Cody also congratulated Shen Yun on its 20th anniversary, saying: "Milestones like this remind us how powerful the arts can be in connecting people, sparking inspiration, and bringing a welcome sense of beauty into our busy lives."

Canadian Member of Parliament Kelly DeRidder also sent a congratulatory video message, saying: "Shen Yun’s dedication to reviving China's 5000 years of traditional culture, while highlighting universal values such as compassion, courage and freedom, deeply resonates with Canadians from all walks of life. Its performances not only inspire and uplift audiences, but also honor the cultural diversity and shared values that define our country. I wish Shen Yun continued success in its Canadian tour, and I congratulate everyone involved in two decades of artistic excellence and resilience in the face of adversity."

Ahead of Shen Yun’s performances in Mississauga, the city’s mayor and deputy mayor issued a proclamation on behalf of the city government, praising the company’s global achievements, the proclamation reads: "Over the last 20 years, you have become the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. A strong promoter of Chinese artistry, culture, and performance, you have also propelled dynamic growth in the arts across Canada and Mississauga. Your extraordinary performances—by 8 companies—uplift audiences and bring new hope and inspiration."

Meanwhile, Members of Parliament Marilyn Gladu and Dan Muys, among others, also praised Shen Yun’s achievements and extended their best wishes for a successful tour.

Shen Yun will be performing in Mississauga, Kitchener, Toronto and Vancouver across Canada until April 12.
