On March 26, Shen Yun Performing Arts showcased ancient Chinese culture through a performance of classical Chinese dance, music, and storytelling at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks, California. One audience member said they felt like they were taken on a journey to a heavenly realm.

“I want to say everything was glorious and divine. It really is divine, and takes you into a dream. You feel like you entered a dream where anything is possible and where you can transcend anything from this earth that is not of the light, and of goodness, and of beauty. And I just loved every moment,” said Valentine Rose, a singer. “It took you on a journey, a journey from bringing heaven to earth and allowing us to visit heavenly realms as well. It’s just beautiful.”

“This is high value. It’s beautiful, as far as architecture, as far as the lighting, as far as the closing, as far as the directing, the music is sitting right there. They’re playing such great music that you really don’t believe that this is live music right there in front of you. It’s a combination of all of these. It’s totally fantastic,” said Max Khazaie, a business owner.

“When we stood up and we were clapping, I noticed how many young people were in the orchestra, and it made my heart so happy, because I feel like music has become so digital now,” said Nicole Nogrady, a musician.

Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of divinely inspired Chinese civilization from before communism. Audience members said they appreciated the values brought to life on stage.

“It’s quite beautiful to see the truly spiritual tradition that is depicted in this show. You think of China, you think of Mao, you think of the current regime, and you don’t see spirituality in terms of the traditions. So I was moved by the enlightenment section. I thought it was transcendent,” said Anthony Teresi, a business owner.

“The message I got was to be a good person. I could feel my heart expanding so much in this show, and it wasn’t what I expected it was going to be at all. And so that aspect of it really touched me and made me so happy. And that’s one thing, that I hope more people go and see this because it will make your heart happy too,” Ms. Nogrady said.

“Your performances are extraordinary. Deeply moving. Brought me to tears several, several times. You are extraordinary. Right from the percussionist through the orchestra, to the individual soloist, to the ensemble, and to the special effects which were off the charts. The way they happen is seamless,” Mr. Teresi said.

Shen Yun will be performing at The Buell Theatre in Denver, Colorado, from April 3 through 6.
