‘In the Clouds’: Shen Yun Brings Paris Audiences Back to Ancient China

March 2, 2024

Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage in Paris, France, on Feb. 27 and 28. Audience members say they were taken on a journey through ancient China and were dazzled by what they experienced.

“I felt a very calm and peaceful atmosphere, as if we were actually in the clouds and in another time,” said Félix Torres Marin, an IT manager.

For Catherine Lack, the retired owner of Ste G.Lack & Cie, Shen Yun’s performance was like a journey.

“It is a journey through time and space, taking me back to the world of traditional China. It was eye-opening and moving. Absolutely amazing,” she said.

“There was real energy during the show, it was really good,” said Gabriel Eid, the director of Galeri Frederic Got.

Shen Yun draws its inspiration from China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture and values from before communism. The culture is believed to be inspired by the divine.

“We feel that the performance is full of spirituality and spiritual energy. which can only be achieved through faith and belief. It is a wonderful tribute to the universe,” said Ms. Lack.

“There was mention of transcendence, there was mention of God. And I think we can all relate to this because a materialistic regime has no place explaining the beauty of the world and man’s purpose on Earth,” said Jean Lalau Keraly, a pediatrician.

Shen Yun has been touring since 2006, and now has 8 companies performing around the world simultaneously.

“I think the presentation of tradition is very good and we can see a very different tradition in today’s era. It’s really a different culture, a whole new exploration. This is worth a special trip to see and be enlightened by another civilization,” said Mr. Eid.

“Shen Yun can help us see things from a much higher, more spiritual, non-material perspective. And I think it can help improve human relationships,” said Ms. Keraly.

“I believe that this show takes us directly back to our origins and to the divine. For me, it’s a positive image. One that’s even more modern today, given our way of life,” said Jérôme Vadelorg, a professional photographer.

Shen Yun will continue to perform in Paris, France, till March 2.
