Slawomir Niedziela, a company director, said, “I was impressed by all the colors. European theater doesn’t have so many colors. So we were curious when coming here how it would look in a performance from a different culture. And we are tremendously impressed.”
“The presentation of Chinese culture through dance is something exceptional, because usually in art there’s always a film or some kind of narrative. But this is through movement, through dance, through all the elements,” said Piotr Gronowicz, a public security coordinator.
Shen Yun travels with a live orchestra that combines traditional Chinese instruments and Western instruments, creating a unique and harmonious sound.
Mr. Niedziela said, “I was impressed by that instrument that has two strings. I was enchanted that you can create so many sounds and such beautiful music from two strings.”
Magdalena Podgorna, a psychologist, said, “Such a beautiful voice is actually, really quite rare. I also liked the lyrics of the song very much, translated of course, so it was very pleasant. Not only is the voice so moving, but the content is also so valuable.”
“Here it was well presented, the fight between ancient history and modernity was well presented, and this conflict continues to this day. Here, there is an important message that this struggle is a struggle to not give up, and to constantly remember the Creator. And to have hope in Him, hope,” said Sylwester Stachyra, a business owner. “As far as the feelings themselves are concerned, at times it [moved me], almost to tears. I didn’t expect there to be so much emotional message.”
Ms. Podgorna said, “Somewhere deep inside [oneself], spirituality is strengthened. It’s not external attributes, but what’s happening inside. Sometimes, when something requires effort, you have to work hard. There was also an emphasis on the value of perseverance. I think these are important values that are sometimes lacking today.”
