Shen Yun Performing Arts brought 5,000 years of ancient Chinese civilization to the stage in São Paulo, Brazil, on May 5. Audience members traveled through scenes from ancient China with a live orchestra, and classical Chinese dance. They praised the performers for their artistry.

“I never imagined I would see such a beautiful and impactful artistic presentation,” said Victor Lúcio de Oliveira, the editor-in-chief for Brasil Paralelo. “Watching the dancing, looking at the colors, seeing the jumps, all of this accompanied by a live orchestra, was a unique experience I experienced today for the first time.”

“A spectacle. It's immeasurable—the proportion of colors, of joy that it brings to us,” said Mervyn Gomes, a lawyer.

“I thought it was spectacular. It brings you a bit of this Eastern culture, it brings an immersion so that you can get to know the whole history and the whole culture through dance, through art,” said Suzana Lee, a company managing partner.

Shen Yun aims to revive the spirit of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and values, a heritage believed by ancient Chinese to be a gift from the divine. Since the Chinese Communist Party took power in 1949, the regime has sought to eliminate Chinese society’s belief in the divine.

“Keeping the tradition, it's not going back to the past, but rather being able to have a much more balanced and happy life. And they pass this on, so the tradition of following the right path will only be good for us,” said Luiz Fernando Castellotti, a business owner.

“As soon as the curtains opened, it felt like you're in heaven. I was blown away, you can't help but think of God,” said Thaíse Lima, a lawyer. “It's an awakening to what is beautiful and what is of the essence of a human being. A phrase struck me there: 'Never let goodness get away from you.' And kindness, it's a fruit of the Spirit, so there's no way you can turn away from goodness and turn away from God.”

“I think it's very important for all generations, especially for today's youth to learn a little bit about these different cultures and I think the ancient culture has to be preserved,” said Anna Maria Mello, a writer.

Shen Yun successfully concluded their 2025 world tour on May 11, with performances across major cities worldwide. Its artists bring an all-new program for audiences to enjoy every season.
