“I knew it was going to be good; it was better than I ever expected. I didn't want it to end,” John Paquet, a former executive director of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, said of Shen Yun Performing Arts.
“I’ll go again, when they come back, I will go again,” said Donalda Paquet, a former Calgary Board of Education member.
“I think it's a very great ambition to bring that show to the rest of the world, to show them what the ancient Chinese culture was and what it actually could be if they were free to express themselves," said Ron Eisler, a senior software engineer.
“It's really good to have an anti-communism message here in Canada. These days, it seems like it's starting to come here, and there's a lot of anti-religion stuff here too. So it's good to see that coming to Canada, just sort of the dangers that can be. A lot of people here don't see any dangers in that, so it's good to see that in the arts.”
“The level of artistry in the dance and the professionalism, I think it's wonderful. And we're thrilled to be here and to get to experience this once again. From my perspective, this is world-class performance and I thoroughly enjoy it. I understand about spirituality and belief in a higher power, so I think it's great for people to have their beliefs, and I fully support everything that this stands for.”
Councillor Chabot added, “I'm thoroughly impressed with the world-class performance that we're experiencing here today, and I would encourage them to spread this artistry throughout the world and encourage all Calgarians to take this opportunity, to take part in this demonstration, because it is truly world-class.”
“The scenes are spectacular. The first two acts made it all worthwhile. The price of admission was the first two acts. I was so happy. Yeah, it was wonderful. It was fabulous. I don't know how it could be any better," John Paquet said.
