Tatjana Ketler, a clinic owner, said, “For me, the most remarkable thing about it was simply the vibrant colors and the intensity. The way the different colors blended together.”
Cornelia Scheffler, a director of a music school, said, “Personally, I liked the part best when their arms were extended, with the sleeves. I found it impressive how quickly they went up and down. And in general, the precision, the choreography itself, was very beautiful, top-notch.”
Lisa Hartmann, a Montessori teacher, said, “Phenomenal. It’s an explosion of color. It’s a joy to behold. I think it’s wonderful that it’s being brought to the Allgäu region. And of course, we also get a glimpse into Chinese culture.”
Through classical Chinese dance and music, Shen Yun aims to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and values from before communism.
Ms. Hartmann said, “It’s simply ancient history, and the fact that they were so powerful, something we can’t even imagine. What they were capable of transforming, what strength they possessed. And they conveyed that so wonderfully.”
Ms. Ketler said, “For me, I think what was particularly special was that sense of self-sufficiency and that particular discipline, simply being with oneself, with one’s own intuition, simply being with one’s mind. I think that’s something that’s perhaps only minimally present today, but it really was special. And I believe that’s something worth passing on.”
“Brilliant. Everything was played well. And the modern instruments from our world and the Chinese ones, it’s all very well composed,” said Willi Ederle, a music teacher. “The whole event was very inspiring. And as a music teacher, I can always learn something from it.”
Ms. Scheffler said, “I think the music touches the soul. We arrived under a lot of pressure and with very little time. We took our seats, it started, and by the second piece at the latest, we were able to enjoy it.”
Ms. Hartmann said, “Everyone who has the chance should come, because it’s so incredibly inspiring and the colors are so amazing. It’s simply wonderful. So, all we can say is, come and see it for yourselves, even if it’s next year. It’s worth it.”
Ms. Scheffler said, “It’s something you have to see at least once in your life. If possible, more often.”
