The historic French city of Rouen, perched on the banks of the Seine river, welcomed Shen Yun Performing Arts for a series of five performances at the Zénith of Rouen from Jan. 11 to 14. Audiences were captivated by 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and civilization, brought to life on stage through classical Chinese dance, music, and storytelling.

“I found it amazing, absolutely beautiful,” said Christian Drouin, owner of Calvados Christian Drouin. “The way the scenes transition is truly impressive. It’s entertaining and relaxing, with plenty of funny moments and playful behaviors. A really great show.”

François-Marie Carré, a doctor, said: “When I saw the ad on TV, I immediately asked my wife to get tickets, and it turned out to be exactly what I had hoped for. It’s a great performance.”

“It’s a very joyful and beautiful show, with beautiful dances, stunning performances, and gorgeous costumes,” engineering firm manager François Cochain said. “It offers a wonderful insight into Chinese culture, showcasing ancient dances.”

Françoise Leleu, a former school principal, said the dances were very beautiful. “The dancers, both the men and women, have an incredible level of technical skill that’s really impressive. I especially loved the ethnic dances, particularly the last one, and even the women’s dances were so graceful and beautiful. I really enjoyed the performance,” she said.

William Dugast, a former chief warrant officer with the French Air Force said: “I am feeling great. I was eagerly anticipating your arrival. My wife and I had an absolutely fantastic time. Thank you.”

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from before communism. The company transports audiences through time, using their patented 3D digital backdrops, captivating audience members with an immersive and visual experience.

“I was truly impressed by the virtuosity, the images, and the editing with the characters. It felt like they were flying,” Mr. Dugast said.

“Another remarkable aspect is the integration between the actors on stage and the backdrop. It feels so real, as if they’re descending from the sky and they’re right there. It’s incredibly well executed,” said Mr. Drouin.

Based in New York, Shen Yun has grown to have eight different companies simultaneously touring the world since it was established in 2006. Theatergoers were also deeply moved by the vibrant energy on stage, shared through the dances, music, and scenery.

“It’s a beautiful journey, in fact. Staying in one place feels like being carried away on a magical, fantastical, and deeply artistic adventure,” said Mr. Cochain.

“Truly, you leave with your mind full of dreams, and we wholeheartedly congratulate the entire company, all the musicians, and every artist who contributed to this incredible performance. A big thank you. It was absolutely extraordinary,” said Stéphane Debesson, a logistics manager.

Starting Jan. 23, Shen Yun will begin performing in the French capital city of Paris.
