Shen Yun Performing Arts held a performance at the Proctors in Albany, New York, on April 22 and 23 and audience members said it was "fabulous." Shen Yun specializes in showcasing traditional Chinese culture through classical dance and music, with a focus on reviving the values and stories from a time before communism. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) presented a certificate of recognition to the Upstate New York Falun Dafa Association, the organizer of Shen Yun.

“Stunning, beautiful. Couple of times I closed my eyes and just felt the music. It was fabulous,” said Lane Rozema, a company vice president. “I can't wait for next year's performance, because I just heard that it's different every year. So it's not the same as watching it on TV or going to a movie. This is a whole experience with the music and the costumes. Absolutely fabulous.”

“The use of technology was extremely impressive and enhanced the experience, but some level of peace and comfort and just very spiritual experience. Not only enjoying the art and entertainment and professionalism, but it brings you some level of peace and comfort,” said Ladan Nikravan, a former organization board member.

“I would give 10 out of 10. It was amazing. The dressing, costume, dancing, I loved everything,” said Sanjay Shah, a physician and business owner.

Since 2006, Shen Yun has toured the world with a mission to revive 5,000 years of divinely inspired traditional Chinese culture, bringing ancient wisdom and values to life on stage. But the company cannot perform in China, because Shen Yun’s performance shines a light on the brutal persecution of faith by the Chinese Communist Party.

“It teaches us the importance of freedom and fighting for that freedom. And knowing an artist can express themselves prior to communism and now not having that freedom, it's suffocating to even watch it,” Ms. Nikravan said.

“Everything is magnificent. It works on so many levels. The music, I thought was great, the athleticism, the coordination of the animation with the actual performers, was amazing. And the moral message as well,” said Gregory Harkenrider, a former chief budget analyst. “The importance of our connection to the divine, that we're not just dropped here, that we have a cause and a purpose in life.”

“The spirituality was very interesting. I think it made the dancing more meaningful, the stories that it told and the messages behind the stories I thought were very beautiful. It just added to the beautiful costumes and all of the colorful, intricate steps and the acrobatics that the dancers performed tonight,” said Kathy Melnyk, an accountant.

Shen Yun will be performing at The Benedum Center for the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 26 and 27.
