Shen Yun Performing Arts successfully closed the curtain on its performances at the Boch Center Wang Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 5 and 6. The arts group presents 5,000 years of China’s rich cultural heritage from before communism.

"When I watch Shen Yun, there seems to be a really strong connection with the universe, with nature, and with your fellow man," said Tim Shea, a company director. “You think about the deep, rich history of China going back thousands of years, and the advanced civilization that it was. It's really fascinating to see the dance really encapsulate and express the real, true Chinese culture. I find it very amazing.”

"I'm so enchanted. I'm so just inspired and invigorated. I feel like it's like a fairy tale, and I can't wait to immerse myself in the second half. It's really captured my imagination," said Ally Matteodo, an actress.

“It was absolutely beautiful. It's a wonderful story. Every scene was just breathtaking. And the animation too, that the fact that you go from on stage to on the big screen was just seamlessly too, it was absolutely incredible,” said Alexandra Schmitt, a business owner.

Ancient Chinese people believed their culture and values were to be inspired by the divine. Shen Yun showcases them through traditional Chinese dance, music and stories.

"It's just something that ignites your spirit. It makes you want to be better, and it makes you … feel faithful and hopeful. You are reacquainted with the beauty of the world," said Matteodo.

“I just find that the beauty of the dance, the elegance, very majestic. And it just really warms my heart, that's why I like coming. The beauty of it is really it's very simple but powerful,” said Shea. "If someone comes into this show, I can't imagine they don't feel some sense of empowerment and uplifting of their spirit, because that's really what you see in the dance."

Shen Yun will perform at the San Diego Civic Theatre in San Diego, California, on April 12.
